We are happy to announce that the Finnish Chips Competence Centre (FiCCC), co-ordinated by New Factory, has been selected for four-year funding from the Chips Joint Undertaking of the EU.
The FiCCC consortium, consisting of Photonics Finland, BusinessOulu, Kvanttinova Oy, and New Factory, is eagerly starting the development work of the competence centre together.
Our goal in the following years is to accelerate the growth and competitiveness of both the Finnish and European semiconductor sectors. The competence centre will support the development of advanced chip technologies and solutions that give various industries a competitive edge, opening new possibilities for their use and, in turn, driving increased demand and business opportunities for semiconductor providers.
Combining regional areas of expertise enables Finland's strong participation in the implementation of the European chip strategy and gives companies and industry players the opportunity to benefit from the unique strengths of each region.
This nationally unique project has emerged from the common will, whose goal is to raise Finland to the top of chip expertise in Europe.
“Finland has a lot to give especially in the areas of microchip design excellence and specialized microelectronics processes that are two of the focus areas of the Finnish Chips Competence Centre. As a part of a European network of Chip Competence Centres, FiCCC will serve as a central link between Finnish and European semiconductor research and industry communities, facilitating easy access to the newest research and pilot lines across Europe” comments Jari Erkkilä, CEO of New Factory, the coordinator partner of FiCCC consortium.
